Our Sustainability Goals & Approach

Clothing Made Better - Sustainable, Zero Waste

Clothing Made Better - Sustainable, Zero Waste

Nearly 80 pounds of clothing per person ends up in landfills each year, driven largely by the cycle of fast fashion. At Airthreads, we're proudly a zero-waste company, dedicated to sustainability through our made-to-order approach. By crafting each shirt specifically for our customers, we eliminate the need for pre-production or bulk inventory, effectively reducing waste. This process ensures that every garment is purposefully created, minimizing excess materials and avoiding unnecessary environmental impact. Each shirt we make is a step toward a cleaner, greener planet, without compromising on quality or style.e.

Natural, Sustainable Fabrics

Natural, Sustainable Fabrics

The vast majority of the fabrics you will find here on Airthreads are natural fabrics like 100% Cotton, and 100% Linen. Performance shirts use blended cotton with a high % of cotton and a lower percentage of recycled polyester or lycra to deliver the necessary stretch while maintaining the breathability of cotton. By thoughtfully sourcing sustainable fabrics, we create high-quality, custom-made shirts that not only look and feel great but also contribute to a greener, more responsible fashion industry. With every Airthreads shirt, you're not just investing in style—you're making a conscious choice for the planet. You can find the details of each shirt fabric on the shirt page, fabric drop down.

One Tree For Every Shirt

Every shirt you purchase on Airthreads results in 1 tree being planted!

How? Airthreads partners with Forest Creators. Together, we’re dedicated to restoring natural landscapes by planting trees that help rebuild ecosystems, support biodiversity, and absorb carbon emissions. This partnership aligns with our mission to create a more sustainable future, ensuring that every purchase contributes to meaningful change. Through these reforestation projects, we’re not just producing high-quality, custom-made products; we’re also giving back to the planet, one tree at a time.

One Tree For Every Shirt

Environmentally Friendly Fabrics on Airthreads

100% Linen

Linen is made from the fibers of the flax plant, which is biodegradable and renewable. Linen (Flax) requires significantly less water to grow , making it a water-efficient crop. It is a strong and long-lasting material, reducing the need for frequent replacement and contributing to less textile waste. Humans have been wearing it for millenia because it is so durable cool and beautiful.

100% Regenrative Cotton

The cotton is grown using practices that improve the soil's ability to store carbon, imcrease biodiversity. Cotton grown in this manner can actually help undo and reverse the effects of climate change!

Recycled Polyester

For fabrics to have a bit of strech, they either need to be coated with yucky chemicals, or need to use some synthetic fabric that brings stretch to natural fibers. The wrinkle-resistant or stretch fabrics on Airthreads use a high % of a natural fiber like cotton to maintain breathability, and a lower percentage of a synthetic fiber like 2% Lycra or 20% Spun Polyester (that is made from recycled polyester!).

How Airthreads works

How Airthreads works

We bring you the best tailors and clothesmakers from all over. Everything you buy from us is made-to-order, tailored just for you.

Sizing — How it works

Sizing — How it works

Our Smart Sizing is pretty straightforward. It's powered by a ton of data to make it accurate. But, like any sizing tool, it's not flawless. Think of it like going to a tailor – sometimes it takes an additional try to get it just right. But don't worry, it works great for most of our customers. And if you need a tweak, we've got an easy process for your first remake or exchange.

Custom-Made, for real?

Custom-Made, for real?

Absolutely. The clothes here aren't just waiting on a shelf. They're made based on your sizing answers. We take those, turn them into a pattern and measurements for the tailor, and that's how your unique piece gets made.

Shipping time

Why do the products take 15-20 days to be delivered?

Good things come to those who wait.

A custom product is always going to take more time than an item that is pre-made. Every garment is cut and stitched only after your order has been placed. Once stitched, every garment goes through rigorous quality checks. It is then shipped from wherever the maker is located (often this is overseas).

This process takes ~15-20 days. We hear that they are worth the wait!

Pricing

How is it so affordable if custom-made?

We believe everyone deserves to afford high-quality items.

By cutting out traditional middle channels of Manufacturer -> Wholesaler -> Brand
-> Retailer and connecting you the customer directly to premium tailors, we’re able to keep prices for premium quality apparel at a fraction of what traditional retailers charge.

Sizing

How does custom sizing work?

Our custom-sizing is as easy as picking a standard size elsewhere!

1. Pick your usual collar size. We offer a lot incuding in-between collar sizes like S-M.

2. Pick your height. We adjust your shirt length & sleeve length based on your height.

3. Pick your preferred fit. Choose between a Slim fit, Regular/Classic fit and a Relaxed fit.

4. Pick between Tucked & Untucked. Untucked length shirts are slightly shorter so that they look great when worn untucked.

That's all it takes!
